About Ummah Helping Hands

Ummah Helping Hands (UHH) is a UK-registered charitable organisation (Charity No. 1100009), founded in 1997 by Imam Hafiz Hifzur Rahman Tarapuri. For more than two decades, UHH has been working to uplift vulnerable communities in Central Gujarat, especially in and around Anand, where poverty, social marginalisation, and recurring communal disturbances have significantly affected minority populations.

Many local communities continue to face serious socio-economic challenges, including limited access to quality education, under-representation in formal employment, financial exclusion, and higher poverty levels. These barriers restrict opportunities for stability and growth. UHH works to bridge these gaps through welfare, education, and empowerment programmes that promote dignity, inclusion, and long-term resilience.

Our Story

During a visit to India in 1997, Imam Hafiz Hifzur Rahman witnessed firsthand the harsh realities faced by families in rural Gujarat — severe poverty, lack of education, limited livelihood opportunities, and the lasting impact of communal unrest and natural disasters such as floods. Many families were left homeless, unemployed, and without any social safety net.

Determined to make a difference, he brought together a small group of dedicated individuals in Anand to create a grassroots support network. This initiative later became Ummah Helping Hands, founded to serve poor, neglected, and underprivileged families, helping them restore dignity, stability, and hope.

Our Mission

Our mission is to improve the quality of life for disadvantaged families through compassionate care, education, empowerment, and humanitarian relief. We strive to identify the most deserving individuals and ensure that every donation reaches them with transparency, responsibility, and trust.

What We Do

    We are committed to providing:
  • Financial assistance for essential needs
  • Educational support for children and youth
  • Emergency relief during crises and disasters
  • Support for orphans, widows, elderly, young girls, and vulnerable families
  • Community empowerment and self-reliance initiatives

Beyond financial help, we aim to rebuild confidence, dignity, and resilience so families can work towards a brighter and more secure future.

  • Impact: Creating meaningful and lasting change.
  • Transparency: Clear, accountable, and ethical operations.
  • Community: Working hand-in-hand with local supporters.
