At Ummah Helping Hands (UHH), we believe true dignity comes from the ability to stand on one’s own feet. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
“The upper hand is better than the lower hand… and whoever seeks self-sufficiency, Allah will make him self-sufficient.” (Sahih al-Bukhari)
Poverty, unemployment, limited education, and lack of opportunity often push families into dependency and debt. UHH addresses these root causes by enabling individuals to earn a halal livelihood through practical, sustainable solutions.
UHH’s Self-Reliance Programs aim to build sustainable livelihoods, restore confidence, and ensure long-term independence—empowering families to support themselves, educate their children, and contribute positively to society.
Sahil (13) is a student at Vejalpur Al-Huda Yateem Khana, supported by UHH. His education, food, and daily needs are fully taken care of, ensuring a stable and hopeful childhood.
His father, Arif Sahib (40), an auto-rickshaw owner and sole breadwinner, faced a severe crisis after suffering a serious hand injury, compounded by diabetes. Doctors warned of possible amputation, threatening both his life and livelihood.
UHH stepped in with a self-reliance approach—covering his medical treatment and, crucially, restoring his ability to earn. On 18/12/2025, UHH provided him with a vending cart (lari) and financial support, allowing him to continue working safely during recovery. Regular ration support ensured the family’s basic needs were met.
Today, Sahil continues his education with confidence, and Arif Sahib earns with dignity—no longer dependent, but empowered.
Supporting UHH means investing in dignity, independence, and lasting change—not temporary charity. Your contribution helps families move from dependence to self-reliance.
